...Part of the university’s School of Polymers and High Performance Materials
and funded by the National Science Foundation, MRSEC includes the Center
for Stimuli-Responsive Polymeric Films and Coatings, which was established in
2002 and addresses vital scientific, engineering and educational aspects of
stimuli-response macromolecules, polymeric films and coatings. The objective
of the center is to understand responses of biological systems, development of
synthetic routes for macromolecular chain responses, development of
environmental stimuli functions enabling their film motion and analysis,
development of techniques for predicting environmental responses and
understanding formulation processes in polymeric films. It is located at the
Shelby Freland Thames Polymer Science Research Center, 118 College Drive.
The director is Dr. Marek Urban.
