...Established in 1999, the cooperative is part of the university’s School of
Polymers and High Performance Materials. The center’s mission is to develop
scientific knowledge for understanding and expanding the technology of
polymeric coatings for the benefit of members and to enlarge the cadre of
scientists and technologists capable of working with coatings industries. The
center’s program is designed to complement the members’ in-house research
and development. Its technical expertise includes new concepts in polymer
synthesis and cross-linking technologies; design and formulation of polymeric
coatings; develop new and improved existing characterization methods for
coatings. The center is located at the Shelby Freland Thames Polymer Science
Research Center, 118 College Drive. The director is Dr. Marek Urban.
